Dear members
VAC e-briefing 14th December (Issue 17)
This is the last e-briefing from us for 2007. Hopefully 2008 will bring just as many exciting news and events as this year has! So on behalf of VAC have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Don’t forget…
VAC’s New Year Networking and Party
Where? Butetown Community Centre
When? Wednesday 16 January 2008
What is it? A great way to start the New Year and a chance for people to simply talk to one another and find out more about what is going on in the Voluntary sector, who works where, and put a face to a name and organisation!
This year we want you to bring any information on events that may be going on over 2008, from your AGM to the launch of a new project. So if you are beginning to plan next years events remember to keep us in the loop!
(Please note that this party will NOT include any alcohol).
A poster is attached entitled ‘VAC’s New Year Networking poster 2008’ but please RSVP to us via t: 029 20485 722 or e: marilyn@vacardiff.org.uk

Events
Pedal Power Christmas Lunch

Bike Radio
Looking far ahead to Bike Week 2008, Paul Barrett of Cycle Cardiff is liaising with a production company to produce a series of short interviews for radio and podcast. The series will be themed around people's experiences of their first bike. If you've got abiding memories of yours and would like to appear on the radio, email Paul on PBarrett@uwic.ac.uk
The Anti-consumer alternative Christmas Fair Fundraiser When: Monday 17th DecemberTime: 7.00 - 10.00pm (you can bring things from 6.30pm onwards)Where: Wyndham Street Centre, 1-3 Wyndham Street, (corner of Machen Place), Riverside, Cardiff CF11 6DQ
This great fair enables you to find Christmas presents for family and friends, without having to buy everything new! The cost of all the gifts and gadgets we buy at Christmas isn't just to our bank accounts, there's an environmental price tag too – the sum total of the carbon dioxide generated from the manufacturing, packing and shipping of all these holiday treasures.
Of course, in order for this to work they need you to bring things people would want to buy as gifts in the first place! So please – no junk, no jumble sale items (the Queen's Jubilee Celebration tankard from 1975 probably needs to go to Oxfam!)…instead please bring things people would want to buy and would genuinely consider giving as gifts.
They will also be holding an auction on the night to raise further funds for victims of the US occupation of Iraq. So they would like to know if you can donate anything for the auction. (This could be an individual item (aalready on the auction list is a Luxury Hamper worth £80 and a meal for two at an exclusive Cardiff Restaurant!) - Or else you can auction your time and skills – from piano lessons or a massage through to babysitting or a free computer check up!
If you plan to bring things to sell on the night, please email rabab@thephone.coopby this Saturday 15th December so they can make sure there's room for everyone at the venue. You can also email Rabab to offer something for the auction!
For further details, please ring Rabab on 029 2040 5949 or 077 5993 3311
