Westonbirt Ablaze with Autumn Colour

Autumn at Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, in Gloucestershire is an event recognised around the world.
Every year, thousands of visitors make their way to Westonbirt during October and November to experience one of nature’s most dramatic seasonal displays; a climax of colour before the winter sets in.
Westonbirt’s Acers (Maples trees) on Acer Glade in the Old Arboretum and the National Japanese Maple Collection and Maple Loop in Silk Wood are the main colour hotspots, but for regular visitors, part of the fascination is the fact that every year is different from the last. Weather conditions through the summer and right up to early autumn can influence the time and rate of leaf colouring and you can never guess which trees will provide the year’s ‘star turn’.
