We are looking for people to work as community interviewers on a new Joseph Rowntree Foundation funded research project entitled “Forced Labour in the UK”.

Your role will be to recruit and interview people who have been exploited at work.

The project involves a total of 60 interviews with both British and foreign-born workers in the following locations: Dundee; Lincoln; Bristol and Liverpool.

We currently have a gap to fill in our Bristol case-study and are looking for an experienced qualitative interviewer to carry out 5-7 interviews with a migrant community in the city and/ or the wider south-west region.

You must be able to carry out the interviews between September and December 2010.

Your duties will include:
•    Recruiting 5-7 migrants (from a single national group) who have been exploited at work since arriving in the UK;
•    Interviewing these migrants about their experiences;
•    Translating and transcribing the interviews.

You will be paid £12.50 per hour and a total of £200 for each one-hour interview.

In return you will be asked to provide an audio recording and Word transcript (in English) of the interview.

You will also be expected to attend four hour-long research team meetings in September, October, November, and December.

If you are interested in this work then please send a CV to Dr Sam Scott ([email protected]) by Friday September 3rd 2010.

In your email you should specify:
•    The nationality of migrant you intend to interview;
•    Contacts and links you have with community organisations relevant to this group;
•    Your previous research experience and training.

Informal enquiries to Sam Scott: 0117 954 6767 or [email protected].
