The Liveable Cities Awards are sponsored by the electronics company Philips. The aim is to provide
grants to recognise and develop practical, achievable ideas to improve the liveability and quality of life in
modern cities. There are three entry categories: well-being outdoors; independent living; healthy lifestyle
and work at home. Entry is open to individuals, community groups, NGOs and private businesses. Projects
must be simple solutions, be original in that they have not been proposed or developed in part or whole
before, and must be implementable within two years of the Award being made.
