Resource Futures is involved in an exciting project working with Bristol City Council encouraging residents to use the food waste and recycling kerbside collection service. We are looking for participation monitors and recycling canvassers.  The work is outdoors.

This is an excellent opportunity to get some hands on experience in research, communication and get an insight into modern waste management.

The candidates should have a keen interest in environmental issues. Excellent communication skills are essential as well as meticulous approach to data collection. The candidates should also be fit and reliable. Full training will be provided. We are also looking to recruit members to the team who can speak Polish or Somali.

Participation monitoring

The aim of the participation monitoring is to accurately record set out of the food waste containers during collections.

The participation monitors will work part time (2-3 days a week) for about 3 weeks and the applicants should be prepared for early morning starts. Project starts 10^th of July and the deadline for application is 7^th of July

Doorstep canvassing

The responsibilities of the canvassers include:

-          training  the residents in the full use of their kerbside recycling and composting system

-          taking requests for recycling containers

-          passing on printed information and other material

-          recording any problems or barriers householders are experiencing.

The canvassers will work between Tuesday and Friday 12:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturdays 10:30am to 4:30pm. This 8-week project starts 7^th of August and the deadline for application is 4^th of August 2009.

Pay rate is £7.25/h for canvassers and participation monitors and £7.75/h for canvassing team leader plus holiday pay and bonus. We welcome applications for either or both positions.
